I just located the Dave break material list. So it was stainless steel. I've not seen all your bending brake videos so maybe you've answered this already. Do you think a heavier gauge piano Hong might do the trick. I see you went with a metal hinge.you may have already looked into it but I was thinking of calling around to some industrial supply places to see if there exists a very heavy duty piano hinge that would work

I was wondering about the Dave brake. Did it use aluminum hinges and if so do you think steel piano hinges would work better or make a difference

I wanted to mention something about the CH-640 that I dont think has been floated around before. If you really wanted 4 guys to ride in comfort. The rear passengers could be turned around to sit back to back with the front seat. This would move the CG forward for the rear passengers and you could then then probably safely put a foot well area , making the rear passenger area more interesting.

I saw this Idea on the Bearhawk site, as some there have converted that plane into a 6 seater in special circumstances and also to improve cargo CG if flying as a 4 passenger.

The construction standards book I got with the CH640 plans is dated 2002, I downloaded a more recent version dated 2011 is that the date you have?

Maybe they send the old version for nostalgia sake..lol

The question I was wondering about is in the general tolerances, in my new book on page CS #300 top graph . Is it saying youre allowed a 3 millimeter error over meter distance? and the bottom graph on same page us just the exceptable error over larger distances?

does the small l = length

I just want to make sure i`m understanding this part.

so bottom graph is saying you could be off by a centimeter over a 8 meter distance?

not that I plan on being that far off but I just wanted to confirm Im reading this right.

I saw your chat chat out. You been a huge help. I went online and bought the Homebuildershelp videos

-Basics of scratch building, they build a 701 rudder parts from scratch

-Metal working 101 they put that rudder together

They even tossed in a free video - How to build an RV7 tail kit, but Ive been there done that so didn't watch it.

One thing they left out of the videos is how to drill the Rudder skin to match the rib layout. The metal working 101 video uses a pre-punched skin. so I never get to see how a blank rudder skin gets drilled out.

Do you know of any good videos or literature that covers that. Taking the blank skin and matching it to the rib skeleton.

Hi Greg you've been a huge help so far in pointing a new scratch builder in the right direction. Got another question for you and I should be good for awhile...lol

In my quality standards book that came with the plans it goes over the exceptable limits for errors in construction and has a number in the triangle. To this point i`ve just banged together metal from kits like my RV-7 so this is new to me.

Have you covered this in one of your videos or can you point me in the right direction to someone that has gone over this. I really want to get a good handle on it.

Hey Greg,

Sounds like you are the man with the plan.

Hope all goes well for you with that build. At least you will have plenty of wintertime to work on it there in Mi.

Stop in and see us if you are ever near the Zenith factory again,
