For anyone concidering a Corvair engine or in the process of a Corvair build I suggest you look into Aeromax Avaition. I had the privledge of spending all day Saturday with Bill Clapp at Aeromax. It was well worth the 450 miles I drove that day. His experience and knowledge of the Corvair engine (both auto and aero) goes back years and it shows. He's a pilot, instructor and A&P. He was willing to take time to answer all my questions until I actually understood what he was telling me. This means a lot to me anyway. He is in the middle of developing a complete firewall forward package for the 601. Check out his website: www.aeromaxaviation.com and give him a call.
Happy flying, Tom

Hi I am after a corvair and am wondering how to sauce a motor from over here in Australia if anyone can help me I will probably get 2 or 3 complete motors and aero 1 and keep the other 2 for parts or for a future project. I have William Wynnes so called Bible for corvair motors and have found it very good I now know how to select a core but the corvair was never imported to Australia I have a son in north Carolina in Fayetteville he is in the armed services but he doesn’t know the first thing about motors and I have asked him a few times about looking for me but still I am waiting for him so if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated kind regards to all Russ

The following is copied and pasted from an internet chat group about Corvair Flight Engines. Larry, the vendor mentioned in the posting, might be a good source for you. He charges a slight premium, but he also screens the core for acceptability as a William Wynne conversion core. I hope this is helpful.........

If anyone needs a core Larry Hudson in Pennsylvania mentioned to me that he
has several good corvair cores. Just email him at indylarry@earthlink.net.
The nice thing about Larry is that he will stand behind his core as having
parts that are serviceable for our purposes of building reliable aircraft
engines per WW's plans and requirements. He is planning on attending CC17
and I myself am hoping to have my engine running on WW's mobile testing dyno
sometime during the session."

There were several follow-on postings by other people saying they had good luck with Larry and his cores. Good luck in finding your cores, let us know how you do. I have three cores, which is about right. I found one in the back of a hangar here in New Hampshire and found, by word of mouth, the other two in a barn a couple of hundred miles from my home. They had been sitting in that barn since the early seventies and are both low milage! I will use the best one to build upon and the others as extra parts and (maybe) as the base for another engine, down the road. If I stumble into any more, I will let you know. Long shot, but you never know..........
Thanks Bob I will follow this up kind regardsRuss
hey russell check with aeromax aviation ive had problems with the willie wynn group not much for sending parts or phone calls youl have better luck with aeromax bill clapp he was working closely with ww for a while and is on his own i have his engine in my 701 the engine has had been broken in on aeromax dyno check my photos joe he will probably sell you a core to build
