It strikes me that we could better schedule our time if we knew about when to expect delivery of our modification kit. My suggestion is that we post our order number here, and the date when we receive the kit. Zenith has said they are shipping about 20 mod kits per day, so that should help us make a better guess when to expect a kit.

Of course, it depends on at least some of us posting here when the kit arrives. My order # is 7922, and was accepted on November 24. I haven't seen or heard anything yet.

Hi guys,

I´ve the order number 8002, placed on Nov 30th. Shirley told me they had to make two items, but they prefered to ship complete when shipping international. I´ve bought two upgrades for our Xls.
My Order Number is 7909 and was placed on 24th November 2009

Taking the center spar out now, and making some other small changes as well, as the upgrade.

My Upgrade has left the states, bound for South Africa - yahooooooo!

Now to try and borrow a solid rivet driver!

My order number is 7985 and was ordered on Nov. 24. I emailed Zenith for a status update on Dec. 29 and was told 2 to 3 more weeks for delivery.

order number #7850. Billed Dec 31. Shipped Jan 6th.
7919 on nov 24. No joy.
Order No. 7851 placed 11/23/09, delivered today, 1/11/10, by UPS, 1 25 lb box and 1 16 lb tube, weights including packaging.
Received the upgrade kit today. Ordered November 23, delivered via UPS on January 12 in Florida. About 8 weeks from order to delivery. My order number 7853.
order #7907 on 11/24. Joyce at Zenith advised me via email last Saturday that they would try to ship out to me by the end of this week or first of next.
I talked with Zac on Tuesday [jan 12] and they thought my kit #7890 would be shipped out this week. However I have not received any indication that it did. My account has not been debited nor did I receive the e-mail confirming shippment. It appears that the projected 10 per day is not even close to being met. Evidently there must be some sort of problem?
A lot can go wrong when trying to fabricate field modification kits like this, especially if things are in a hurry. Tooling can break, materials can fail to arrive, you can underestimate how long fabrication takes, or workers can wear down and become less productive, to name a few. Zenith is a relatively small company, and I'm sure there isn't much in the way of backup resources when something goes wrong.

Thus, I'm not surprised if Zenith is unable to make their goal of 10 per day. At one point, I had even heard 20 per day. As was evident when the modification kit was being design/debugged, their schedule estimates were much too optimistic. We were told at one point that the installation/debug should only take a week, yet in fact took around a month. It suggests that Zenith may not be in a position to make good schedule predictions: it's a lot easier to do in a large company, where there are more resources, and you have more clout with material suppliers.

All these are more reasons why it will help if those who can continue to post their kit numbers, bill, ship and delivery dates here. Like most of you, I'm still waiting, and check my credit card balance daily in hopes of hearing that it's been charged, and things are moving.
Hi Jim,
I think you are right on target on this one. However I have uncovered some more rumors on whats going on. Zenith has had to fill a large order for zenair austrailia and it is my opinion that it has took up the bulk of production for the past few weeks. If this is true hopefully they will get back to shipping them out in the U.S. soon.
