Yes I have. But before I make yet more experiments and add more weight and complexity, I'd like to start with simple and proven. Somebody out there, certainly the factory, has a standard FWF cowl using the "standard"  O-360 engine and somehow it cools properly. I already have a pile of time and money sunk in it and someone has made it work I am sure.  I'd rather not hack up the cowl any further and have to get a new one.
I have flown it with pressure gages. The problem is in exit backpressure. I made a quantum leap by adding a lip around the front of the exit opening, just like you see in a C-152 which flies a bit faster than me.   But could play with this forever and I'd really like to have a worked out solution before next summer. I should not be seeing 395 to 425'F CHTs flying in 60' F air at 75% power.
By the way. What kind of real crusie speed do you get at what engine power.  My CH-801 is a dog, getting only mid to high 70 knots at 75-80% power on a 170 hp XP-360 burning 8.5 to 9 gph!  I have heard a lot of "should be" but not anyone sharing real numbers.
Thanks for your willingness to help!

David -

The Corvair motor parts I have loose besides the complete core motor are 1) TRW forged pistons (new) with resized rods and new bolts, rings and bearings for same (.010 under), forged crank that was turned .010 under, NOS balancer, pushrod tubes, cylinder air plates, and other little misc. parts. I was doing the same thing you are doing, collecting parts for the eventual build. You can email me directly with any questions at Brad @ocbis.com.

David,

Tried to message you about Data Logging and the system is acting weird... I re-clicked a bunch of times, I hope I didn't flood you with duplicates.

Anyway, my email is "danal dot estes at gmail dot com".  Email me, and I'll send the info on how I do the data logging.

Happy to share.

Danal
