Hi All,

We have started working on the wing skeleton and facing a small problem with the root rear rib (75W4-3). The Drawings Manual shows that the root rib flange should be connected to the wing spar web (75W2-1) and the spar root doubler (75W3-1) with 3 rivets. And to the Spar root fitting (75W2-7) with one rivet.

The wing spar is pre-assembled, but the problem is that the spar root fitting is already riveted to the wing spar web (As shown in the picture) and we can’t rivet the third hole that connects the spar fitting to the root rear spar (As shown in the picture).

We have checked again the guide manual and it clearly shows that it is not supposed to be riveted. Should we take that rivet out or is there another way to do it? If drill back then what size?

Thanks in advance.

My edition 3 plans show only the top two rivets attaching the rear rib to the spar (rear rib is cut to clear the rivet).  My old edition 2 plans show three rivets and the offending solid rivet as a pilot hole only (no rivet installed, sheet 75WS1). Looks like the factory put an extra rivet in the spar for you.  I'd check with Caleb or Roger on this subject before drilling out the solid rivet, the process is not too difficult but requires some practice and care to prevent damage. They may have a less risky work around.

Thanks Clint for the reply. What about the actual part you are having. Is it riveted? Yes I have emailed Caleb for his recommendation.

Just realised I have posted in the open discussion forum. I will move it to the forum for ch750

I scratch built by spar, and I did put the rivet in place to hold the spar attach point, my edition 3 rear root rib clears the extra rivet.  Looking at your pictures, it seems they sent you an edition 3 spar.  Hope this helps!
