Lycoming o 290 and 750 Cruzer
I have a lycoming O290 that has been sitting in my hanger for many years. Has anyone used that engine in a Zenith application (I am building a 750 Cruzer)? I understand that it will have to be torn down and inspected. Information that I have found on the web say that it weighs about the same dry as an O235 but is 135 HP? Thanks, Pete

hi guys
i'm doing my research to try to pick an engine for a 750 STOL, just wondering if any one here would know how to acquire an engine mount for a 290 or 320. would you have to make it from scratch or does zen offer anything that will work? thanks.

Power rating and average dry weight for the different O-235 and O-290 models are in the Lycoming O-235 and O-290 series operator's manual.

There is a video of Sebastien on the site flying a Cruzer in California that has an O-235. In the comments he seemed to indicate that, other than the additional weight up front, it flew well. If you add another 20 HP at the same weight I bet it would be really nice. Installation (mount) and FFW might be a challenge and repair parts might be a little harder to come across. But hey....if it's just sitting there in the hangar give it a shot!
