I drilled out quite a few rivet because the they weren't set straight.  This was my first real project using my rivet gun. After drilling out the poorly set rivets some holes were messed up enough that I re-drilled the hole with a #12 drill bit and put in a #6 rivet.

@Bryan,  I used what I had.  I first used a hand squeezer to get the rivets started because I was more comfortable using it than my rivet gun.  But, I couldn't get the rivets completely set with the hand squeezer.    I finished them up with my #3 rivet gun and a bucking bar.  However, my handshake is much firmer now.

Did you accomplish this with a rivet gun and a bucking bar, or a "C-Frame" and a blunt hammer? Very Nice!

That's the drift I get is that it is important.  The discussion talk about tight edge distances so when I added the numbers on the plans I just thought adding length would be easier than fighting tolerances.

Oh, that rivet.  I've seen a few CH-750's with that rivet missing including the EAA Employee Built CH-750.  Clint Gosch pointed out to me.  We told one of the EAA builders about their missing rivet.  Caleb was emphatic that this rivet should be installed when I asked.

No Tim, I'm speaking of 75W2-5.  See inset on print 75WA3 bottom left of center on page.  That A5 rivet shown compared with the edge distance on 75W8-2 is why I added length to 75w2-5.  If you go to forums then select ch750 forum and search for "rivet in upper strut fitting" you will find several discussions relating to what I had seen.  Going to forums and then selecting the 750 forum was the only way I could find the discussions in the search too.  None of this maybe necessary but just something I did.

@David, I celebrate success one part at a time.  I finished upped the first spar I started working on by replacing about 35 rivets where I either messed up the head or the pinch didn't wasn't straight. But they are done.

@Tim, Are you talking about the A5 rivet that goes 40mm up from the bottom and 90mm from the bolt? See attached picture.  I saw the interference and just eyeballed a new location around 43mm by 105mm.  I used a AN-470-AD-5-7 rivets on both doublers.

Looking good Timothy.   Heads up, I don't know if you have made the front strut fitting or not but look at plans, edge distances are pretty close between the A5 rivet and strut bolt hole (with the edge distance on the strut) so I increased the length of mine a few mm when I made them.  There had been some discussion in the 750 forum about getting the A5 rivet in and that got me looking and thinking.  Not a recommendation for you to do but worth a look at plans to see before.

Nice job..... Keep you head down an you'll be done in no time. Do at least 1 thing every day an it'll make the job keep moving forward. Working on scratch #3 now.
