Looking over the 154 point inspection checklist from my DAR, wants compression tests, fuel flow test etc - is this usual?

Loren, the engine is a brand ne Roatx 912 ULS but to be fair to the inspector he doesn't yet know my setup so perhaps he won't ask for those things. Also the checklist says there should have been an hour of runup which the Rotax doesn't need, it can red line out of the box

Don't know why he would ask but curious, is the engine new or rebuild?  If all operating characteristics and parameters are normal during ground tests, then why would he care?

yes, I'm not bummed about and given that my plane is super-amateur built, the more eyes over it the better. I was just surprised.

Hi Paul, I'm not quite to that point yet but have done some research. As Jeff said is is mostly up to your DAR but i've never heard of a required compression test. I have heard about fuel flow tests being requested. I think both are a good idea if you plan to strap yourself in and go for a ride!
