Bob,
A freind of mine is running a jabiru engine in a Motor-Faulke and was experiencing the same problem. He put it down to a difference in the amount of air coming into each of the ducts behind the prop due to prop sweeping up over one and down over the other.

He solved the problem by building a equalisation duct joining the two intakes under the prop shaft. It takes a bit of fiberglassing but it seemed to fix the problem.
