The FAA was there yesterday and the NTSB will be there early this week. A friend of mine and some other guys picked the plane up and hauled it to Mikes hanger today. Another friend that works near by said he seen what happened before the crash, He said the plane had a nose high attitude before the engine quit and then stalled. Another witness said the engine quit on takeoff, we'll have to wait for the NTSB's findings but my guess would be fuel starvation, I don't know if the Rotax has a fuel…

Another witness said the engine quit on takeoff, we'll have to wait for the NTSB's findings but my guess would be fuel starvation, I don't know if the Rotax has a fuel pump or if it's gravity feed to the carb. If your engine does not use a pump, you should check the fuel flow to the carb in a nose high attitude before leaving the ground.
did he skip the: before take…tag:zenith.aero,2011-04-30:2606393:Comment:1185862011-04-30T19:43:27.357Znelson Dhttps://zenith.aero/profile/nelsonD

Seems like a lot of 7xx accidents this month (at least three), it has my wife nervous. Hopefully everyone can get their planes back in shape.

A sad but relevant reminder of the responsiblity we have as aircraft builders and as test pilots. Accidents do happen... Our job is to make them happen least often as possible, and this picture reminds us all that it could happen to us. Check twice and check again and make sure you know how to handle each aircraft type prior to a test flight. Engine failure should not be a cause of a major incident in this class of aircraft.
