Thomas,

I have not gotten past the prototype stage at this point. Been flying instead.

I did order some "all stainless" hose clamps that showed up with carbon steel screws...no good.

The prototype fairings in the photos were bent up from .016.

I bought a 4'x8' sheet of 6061 T6 .020 to make them from. I figure they will be pushed.pulled, and otherwise manhandled once installed. The issue with this sheet of material is, I don't want to bend along the grain, but want them all one piece, so I will have to cut the blanks out on the diagonal, wasting most of this sheet.

The dimensions of the prototype are: 10 mm flange, 2 mm bend allowance, 50 mm upper surface, 2 mm bend allowance, 50 mm bottom surface, 2 mm bend allowance, and 10 mm flange.

I made both 10 mm bends. Flattened one 10 mm flange almost completely (using the brake). This allowed clearance to make the trailing edge bend. I then used a straight edge to "unbend" the flattened flange.

Steven, beautiful plane, sounds like she flies the same way.

Question: did you post any details on the strut fairing, such as bending technique (shaping), gauge of material, etc. This looks like a solution to adding fairing to the older round fairing.

Randy,

Not sure how many fasteners yet.

I ordered 24 stainless hose clamps (non perforated), so I am planning on 6 per strut max. I may also tie into the jury strut bolts.
