Part 17: Installing the "Upgrade Package" to our Zodiac CH 601 XL: Finishing the First Wing

Now that we've installed all the upgrades to the first wing, we still need to finish a couple of items to the wing. With the wing skins clecoed back in place, we measure and mark off the 20 mm. hole placement for additional rivets into the inboard main wing spar (top & bottom):

We drill a hole between the existing holes...

Basically, we're doubling the number of rivets from the front and rear skins into the inboard main wing spar:

We also drill the bottom inboard side:

After deburring, we cleco the assembly back together:

It appears additional -5 rivets are added from the root to at least the outboard end of ZU-1-1 and a similar distance on bottom spare angle. Drawing 6-ZU-3 shows additional rivets from the root to RR#5. Which is correct? Also, did you install ZU-1-5 bottom cap angle? Do not see rivets on bottom skin.

Any comments about the addition of the counter weight changes before closing up the wings? It would seem that at least some of the balance weight change would be easier with the wing open.
