A visit with Ed Moody - January 2012

I guess I haven't got the hang of this yet. These comments were meant to go with the four photos I posted today of Ed Moody's 601 XL, Papa Goose.

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of enjoying Ed's hospitality as we were passing thru his hometown of Rayne, Louisiana. Not only did my wife and I get introduced to the local delicacies of alligator, crawdad, frog legs and hush puppies, but Ed found the time to take me up for an hour in the beautiful XL that he and his father, Eddy, had built. Even though I am building an XL, I'd never had the opportunity to fly one so I was eager for the chance. Ed is an excellent pilot and was patient in his explanation of the plane's characteristics and operational considerations. I thoroughly enjoyed the flight and picked up a few hints as well. I'd like to take this opportunity to again thank Ed, his wife Marita and father Eddy for showing Joan and I such a good time!

PS. Some of you may remember that Ed & I co-hosted a campfire gathering for Zenith builders at Oshkosh 2010. Ed is talking about doing it again in 2012 so if there is interest in such an event, please let us know.

Not a bad guy for an LSU grad.

Tim & Ed,

Glad you two had a nice visit.  Can't wait to see you guys again at Oshkosh this year.  Count my family in for another campfire gathering.  I hear there might be some more cajun boudin sausage lurking around again.
