My old 601 has the tank up under the dash and the plane always has that smell of fuel now there hasn't ever been aleak however keeping the canopy closed for a couple of weeks makes it pretty bad. Any one got a fix I know how to get rid of the smell but is there a way to seal up the tank area on the old ones so it won't come back

also anyone converted the older plane to wing tank

Fuel lines should be replaced every 5 years if rubber. You should also replace the bungee on the front and main gear every 5 years (life cycle of bungee is 5 yrs). Your aircraft requies 1 front and 2 / side on the mains ..all bungee is 1080HD.  There is also a recall notice to replace the front gear tube with a new part that has a 3/8" plate that bolts on top of the front tire fork.

James- If Bob's suggestion is not possible for you; I have a suggestion. Now there are a few possibilities but try sealing around the cap where it meets the outer cowling. Then if you don't already have them use the Parker Super Flex fuel hose #05-03597 or 05-03598 from Aircraft Spruce. Then of course check all connections.

Hope this helps.

Call Mark Townsend @ Can-Zac. He just finished "the fix" on another old Flypass CH601HD. Remove header tank, then install two 55 litre leading edge fuel tanks + fuel tank guages & senders. Install wing tank selector valve and electric boost fuel pump.
