Richard Rost's Blog (6)

What's wrong with this picture.

If you look at the first picture of the side skin layout you will see what I missed. On one of the skins the rivet line for the front HT bracket is off by 16mm Not sure how it happened, of course I didn't discover this until after I drilled the line. 6 hrs work down the tubes! Ah the joys of scratch building. At least I can use the material for smaller pieces. Got the right side skin clamped up, and will remake a 2nd skin next weekend. Press on from there to the next screw…

Rivit Spacing

I'm up to lay out for the rivit line for the elevator hinge. The 40 pitch works out between the ribs. But outside the last rib to the end rib I ended up with 34 pitch to evenly space the last two rivits to the end of the hinge. Stab Skeleton Rivited

Boy did it feel good to start pulling some rivits. It made me feel like I'm getting somewhere. Now turn the page in the assembly guide and keep going. Yes I print them out. The computer has all the research for my wife's EED dissertation on here, I don't think I can take it to the hanger and live to tell about it.

Alot of our workshop photos are pretty bad. We had just picked up the new camera. As you can see we didn't have the hang of it yet. The lady in the "Rosie the Riviter" pose is the CFO around here, and main support for crazy guy building his own plane. My better half Dee.

I'm done cutting wood. Plan to get back to the hanger to drill and cleco up stab ribs this weekend. Clecoes, yah ordered the recomended number the the tail kit. Started working and ordered 100 more 1/8" and 100 more 5/32".… Continue
