Here's a summary of my three days with the EAA One Week Wonder airplane in central Florida earlier this week.
On Wednesday, we flew by the shortest paved runway (a nice R/C field, just a few hundred feet long) and later that night I had the chance to fly over the longest runway I'd ever seen (NASA's shuttle landing runway at Kennedy Space Center, three miles long!).…Continue

Last week I had the the privilege of visiting a working U.S. Navy carrier out at sea as part of an EAA group. Fifteen of us were given a first-hand look at life aboard an aircraft carrier and Navy life at sea. This was truly a unique and unforgettable experience.
We started the trip with a night at the historic…

The December 2012 issue of EAA Experimenter has a detailed article on calibrating your airspeed indicator, the latest article is a series on flight testing your homebuilt aircraft by Ed Kolano, a very experienced and knowledable flight test pilot. Wednesday will be a day to remember for many years. It was the day for the Zenith Builders Banquet to honor Chris Heintz. The location for the banquet was the scenic EAA Nature Center right on the AirVenture grounds under a large tent, big enough to hold all 250 attendees:
EAA's founder Paul Poberezny was the special guest for the evening, and he and Chris spent a…

The top photo is of Don Honabach's Zodiac project. Don states: "There is no way I can describe what if feels like to fly something that you've built. It is simply amazing! The plane…
