The fuselage has arrived

After working with customs and the shipping company, my wife and I were able to pick up the CH750 fuselage today. Lot's of things you learn in Canada when you try to import an airplane kit from the US. It's great, you meet some cool folks and you learn a lot about brokerage, etc. It's actually not that bad.

My 8" foot trailer had a workout. The guys at the shipping company were looking at me with funny faces but hey it's called fun and you just don't brake any speed records. Zenithair ships wit… Continue

No problem Steve and thanks for the comment.
Nice to hear from a 750er.
How have you found the kit so far?
Did all of the predrilled parts line up?
I may build a 750 in the future because it seems to embrace my concept of aviation more so than the Zodiac. That concept is to slow down and have fun.

Phill

I guess I finally got the elevator horn worked out. What a pain! Too bad the instructions are wrong because it really would have been pretty simple to do it differently.

Anyway, my holes ended up close to the "bend" too. I sent Caleb a photo and he approved it. Also approved riveting from the inside. One note on that. If you're going to rivet from the inside, make sure you don't install the rear channel until after riveting the horn angle.

Hi Stefan,

I ran into a problem with the elevator. Then, I found your post on the issue. Looks to me like you are 100% correct and that the manual is just flat out wrong.

Do you have any suggestions as to how to proceed now that the horn angle is mounted in the wrong place? One other builder commented about shimming, but I don't see how that's possible, as that would just make the problem worse. The only thing I can think of is to get the horn angles without those particular holes already drilled. The possible problem with that is that it would move the holes right up against the bend radius.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Hey Stefan

Good to hear that someone else is building in Manitoba... there are not to many 701's being built here, never mind a 750. Are you kit building or plans building? I'm plans building and finding it to be lots of fun, especially when you make the parts, rivet it together and it looks like a part of an airplane structure, nothing like pulling rivets!

It would be nice meet and to see your 750 kit up close... maybe we can get together for coffee one day when some of this snow is gone and its a little warmer. Seems that when its cold out you can never find time to do anything!

Take care... keep in touch,
