FAA 2017 SLSA Continued Operational Safety (COS) Report

In January, the FAA issued a Continued Operational Safety (COS) Report for Special Category Light-Sport Aircraft covering the time period beginning with the July, 2004, establishment of the Sport Pilot/Light-Sport Aircraft rule through September, 2017. It's an interesting read, especially since there have been no fatal accidents due to in-flight airframe failures in CH601XL SLSAs manufactured by Czech Aircraft Works and Aircraft Manufacturing & Design since the 2010 airframe structural…See More

Mr. Stan Cooper and others,

We paid a visit to JCAB twice but it might take years(no kidding) to obtain an airworthiness certificate.

There were many red tapes elsewhere and some of them are invisible!   Main reason of  this processing

may perhaps inspectors have no experience licensing such a large, heavy, fast  as CH650 before. There were many red tapes elsewhere and  some of them are invisible!

Should I once ship the aircraft back to US and get FAA license, and apply in Japan afterwords?

I wonder if there is anyway to get FAA airworthiness certificate here in Japan?

Thanks so much for the reply. Your story sounds much like mine. I have a Private rating but let it lapse and will use my California drivers license to get a recertification in the sport pilot category. I have many questions so I appreciate the links and will likely be in touch.
Thanks again...
Scott
