I took the AOPA BasicMed self-assessment course and quiz on April 25, and had my physical exam and comprehensive medical examination checklist by my primary care physician yesterday. According to my airframe logbook, my 2008 AMD CH601XLi-B had the original PAI-700 compass replaced in 2009 with a new one. No reason was given, but the A&P that did the replacement noted that he couldn't get the new replacement compensated satisfactorily. Obtained my private pilot certificate on Sept 11, 1964, while on active duty in the U.S. Air Force stationed at Hill AFB, UT. I have a total of about 3,000 hours as PIC. Other interests are amateur radio, bicycle touring, and sailing. I retired in 2003, and spent much of my career in the financial services industry.
In December, 2016, I took the Rainbow Aviation Services LSA Repairman-Inspection course and now have my FAA LSA Repairman-Inspection certificate for my Zodiac.
