I got your question about the VW Issues. My biggest issue was cooling. I think the VW is a great engine for a faster airplane, but I struggled to get enough air to cool it well for anything more then a very short ground run. Its 20+ LBS Heavier then my Viking 90 and was less HP too. If you search on William Clagg, he documented his saga with the VW on the 701 and eventually moved to a rotax.
