Jabiru Cyl Head Inspecton Jsl 014-2

Hello all,  I am working through my annual and did the inspection as outlined in JSL 014-2.  It has you look for signs of overheating in Section 5.3.  I have had good compression and really no problems.  I have been flying for about 350 hours and the engine runs fine.  But I did have overheat signs near the exhaust valve.  See pic…See More

Jabiru Motor Mounts

Hello all.  Doing my annual.  I am thinking about changing out my motor mounts for the Jabiru.  I see that some folks have been using the Sonex mounts.  Any feedback on how they work.  Also would love to hear any tricks or techniques for changing them out.  Thinking about supporting the motor and loosing up all 4 then tilting up to do the lowers then down for the uppers.  Any feedback appreciated.See More

Matt, I've been meaning to thank you for the tool tips, etc. you've posted. I've added your suggestions to my wish list, but I had to make do with what I had. A month ago I didn't own a riveting hammer and like most tools, it's about the accessories.

I only dinged one hole on the wing spar, so I'm happy. I expect much better results on the next wing.

Hi Matt,

If and when I do the upgrade, my plan is to combine the wirs that have to be cut into one or two Molex connectors. I think that would be the least annoying way to deal with the situation. Even a common shield ground could be dedicated to one of the pins in the connector.

Good luck,

Ed

I like my polished finish. I did not polish the bottom, only the top. I have about 75% of the disassembly complete now and have spent 17 hours doing it. I figure 25 hours, tops for all disassembly. Total labor should run around 100 hours.

Matt, I see you are online with Zenith.aero right now. I am guessing you are watching the latest ZAC update like I am. The right wing is almost de-riveted.
