Would like to get your email info so I can talk to you about getting two hours in your 801.  My partner Bob Caskey did this when I was out of town a few months ago and now I have some available time.  We are having an oil temp problem that I believe is solved but since he is not here to fly and I am, I'm the only one who can check this out.  But without 2 hours in type our insurance does not cover me.

FYI I'm an ATP with 7500 hours and built our RV-8A.

Thanks

Mark,

I have an 801 which is nearly finished. Would very much like any information you can give me on flying the 801 and would be interested to know how many hours you have done with yours so far. Have been in touch with Philip Cronje in SA as I live in Kenya and may have a chance to meet him in May. I look forward to hearing from you. Robin.

hi Mark. Finished the new baffling and oil cooler installation. Got my CHT's down to 360 F on average. Oil Temp stable at 200f. With the new baffles I also put in a1 inch prop extension. The plane now feels abit more nose heavy ( would with the extension) and now I want to work on the elevator. When I saw you at S&F, you spoke about a fairing you put on the stabiliser root. Have you also put in gap seals?

Let me know please.

Hi Mark.
Installing new baffling tomorrow and have increased the Oilcooler to a 10 Roa Niagra unit. Also installing it at the back of the baffles instead of on the fron ramp. Added gill slots to the sides of the cowl and a turbulator lip on the exit ramp of the cowl. Possibly looking at making it a pressure cowl system as well. Any further suggestions for cooling things down? looking forward to your FWF pics, soonest.

Regards
Philip

Hello Mark.
Þakka þér fyrir frábæra íslensku á Zenith listanum. Átti ekki von á að einhver væri íslenskumælandi hér. I was just admiering the pictures of your planes, the Cirrus and your wifes CH 801. And all your boys participating in your sport.
I wish I could get my wife to fly with around the country.:-)
Ertu íslensk ættaður?
Bestu þakkir og kveðjur frá Íslandi.

It was a lycoming 0-360. We then added a bendex fuel injection and we build a custom turbo system for it. I am now selling these turbo kits for the 801 if anyone is interested. It is a simple bolt on system with eveything you need. Exhuast system, waste gate, intake tubes, blow of valve, turbo fuel injectors, scavenge pump, check valves, oil lines, and of course the turbo with custom mounts and brackets.
