A little preventitive Maintenance on my plane

One of the fun things about owning and building a plane is that it is an on going maintence project. Some planes are famous for the amount of ground hour to flight hours. For example the F15 eagle and other fighters had a 4 to5 to 1 ratio! Meaning 4 to 5 hours of maintenance to 1 hour of combat flight time. With our trusty Zodiacs, I find it to be the inverse 4 to 10 hours of flight hours to 1 hour of ground required maintenance. Now that is value! Now ground time turning a wrench is…See More

Flyin on a business trip and Lovin it!

Well that time came again and I need to be in Miami in the Morning . The questions was did I drive 4 to 5 hours or take the 601 xl and fly 1.4 hours? Well quick decision. I looked at the TFR over the everglades and the fact that the HWY is closed down, and decided to fly. The plan was to leave early in the morning, fly in to Opa Locka, get to my 9am meeting at the factory, then fly back by 1pm. I took off from SPG at 7 am, leveling the plane at 9500 feet. Can you say Awesome View! the… Continue

Juan, regarding Lycoming IO233. Why? 2400hr TBO, I have a 172 with O320e2d which TBO'd at 3400 hrs and didn't need it. No carb icing, no leaning. Simple. To be installed in Z750. Ron

What do you think the total distance would be for take off to climb out. Airport elevation 1,000 ft. this is in Upper Michigan so we don't have to worry about high temps like Florida.

I own a Piper 150 Cherokee.
I'm looking to fly out of a grass runway that is 1,000 ft. with 50 ft obstacle at end of runway. Is this possible with the XL? I will be using almost the same set up of plane as yours.
