I am/was the third owner of FOQB so can't really address your questions. I do recommend you try Google for more information. BMW engines are very popular in Germany for use in ultralights. There is a company there that features same, name escapes me but sure you will find it on the internet.
I have retired from flying due to a combination of age and health and regretfully sold my plane last year.
What I can say is the engine was incredibly reliable, never a problem except for a dirty fuel injector. At my airport the Rotax 582 flyers looked down their noses at the BMW so to speak, but did experience in flight failures whilst I cruised by!
