Getting ready to put red vinyl striping on the wings. Easier to do without the slats plus I wanted to do some "slatless" testing before float season.

Good place to mount the "deer whistles" to keep 'em out of my way on those remote woodes strips

When you take the slats off, those brackets sticking out of the wing are called "sonic boom deflectors"

I had contemplated the same sort of thing. It seems like the only real potential loss might be climb angle and I’m guessing cruise speed will improve as it does with other examples on wheels.  I plan to leave my slats on initially and see what my performance looks like, then consider a change.  Im glad to hear you will be experimenting with this and I’m looking forward to hearing what changes you find.

Going to add the STOLSPEED VGs when they arrive and plan on flying slatless with floats this season.  My thoughts are that you really cannot take advantage of slat takeoff rotations with floats (digging in the heels) and you really don't want to drop it in landing on water so removing slats and adding VGs will allow for mitigation off the latter without real consequence to operations/performance with the slats on.

I’ll be very curious to see what you decide to do with your slats when the floats go on.

Its spring! Skis and snowmobiles are put away. Good job on the Datum Skis install.
