Bob,
This is not too late for my second CH 701. Thanks.
Champ
While bending the tunnel angles ( 7F8-8 ) 30 degree's open for the 701, I noticed that once in place, they had a tendency to flatten against the floor when any weight was applied to the top of the tunnel, loosing what little rigidity they had. I bent new pieces and rather then 30 degree's open, I went with 30 degree's closed. They immediately became almost twice as strong as the original parts were, and at the same time I installed them under the tunnel, there by propping up the tunnel and helping to support the eventual weight of the seats. Formed in this way, these two sections also had a beneficial effect on the rear floor section, ( 7F8-8 ) making it much more rigid.
Speaking of the rear floor section, while it's too late for me since it is now riveted in place, any future installation of this 7F8-8 section would be much stronger were it riveted on top of the rear channel ( 7F10-1 ) rather then hung underneath held in place with only a few dozen small A4 rivets. By installing it on top of the rear channel lip, rather then underneath as per the plans, it would be better supported, and by the same token, stronger because it is the foundation for the seat support for both pilot and passenger.
