I vote for the root canal.  I'd try it though I doubt mine would have the finished look that yours do.

My cost for materials was $240.00, don't know what ready made seats cost.  I have done uphostery before, also having an industrial sewing machine and other supplies helps. Even if it cost me more I like the flexibility of making your own, added benefit is no outrageous shipping costs.
