First there are several different ways to wrap an airplane. The method I used is the most complicated, and involved printing the colors on blank wrapping vinyl. Getting the size and shape was difficult to say the least. Also placement on the aircraft was critical and the big sheets required 2-3 experienced people to position properly. If doing one like mine, I'd say leave it to the pros.
Now having said that,,,,THere is an easier way....you can apply solid color vinyl much like you would paint an aircrplane, then apply complex printed vinyl over the solid colors as if applying big decals.
Yet another way involves using no printed decals at all. Just colored sheets from 3m. There is a lot of information on YuoTube.
Simple answer to your question....yes and no

Do you think, after watching the wrap process, that its feasible to order the materials and complete the job yourself?Do the wings have to come off?

It is a wrap....not paint...looks great close up too. Price was right, $6,800.
I got a local sign company to do it. Routh Signs in Greensboro NC (336) 272-0895 They did all the skin mappping on mine so doing another 601 would be easy.
I pulled my wings and trailered it to their shop.
Let me know if anyone is interested. You could fly in to KGSO and use my T-hanger!
