Please make note of how nice my wife is for letting me use the living room, instead of the ice cold shop. That's true love right there...or pathway to divorce.

Agreed. Although I am curious about prop selection and RPM. WW talks about, on a webinar, changing prop sizes for different airplanes. I am building the Cruzer which has smaller tires than the STOL, which also means less ground clearance for the prop. So a shorter prop will yield higher RPM which means more HP. (I forget how much WW said). I am curious what a 3-blade prop will turn and HP. (I like the looks of the 3-blade as well). All questions to ask for future.

I kinda felt the same way. The whole reason I was going corvair was because it was something I could work on my self, and was good reliable horsepower for the money. Going up to the 120HP seems to violate most of the reasons I was choosing the corvair engine. Especially on the maintenance side, it has so many non standard mods, if anything goes wrong or needs maintenance, its always going to cost more. OH well, I guess on the performance side, we might be the test dummies/guinea pigs. I have picked up from a few post that it can do ok, but I don't see anything to indicate it is going to leap off the ground like the infamous YouTube videos.

Lets talk more on that when you are ready. Maybe I will be ready then as well. Personally I am not going over 110HP with a Corvair. It becomes an entirely different engine then at 120HP. Uses VW cylinders and the case has to be machined to match. And then also uses a lot more fuel of course. All I have heard about the VW is the heads/cylinders overheating and cracking in just a few hundred hours. Maybe it was only the heads.. but still.

Second Engine - My brother-in-law has rebuilds corvairs of all things. He restores the cars and engines. He knows a guy that has to crate motors, granted they are nearly 50 years old, but 0 time engines. I don't know if we can get them cheap enough, I am not going to pay a premium something I end up having to tear up, ie remove the value of having a crate motor. Second to that I have access to all kind of cranks, heads, and cases. We order from Clark's quite a bit. The parts that will be hard to get are WW, from what I have heard. Do they sell stuff at the corvair colleges? I have been in touch with the go to guy for the heads, he replied to my email so there is a chance he will be in business when I can afford to send my heads off. I am on the fence with the 2850(110) versus 3000 (120hp) . I am going for STOL, not sure how much 10 HP will make for shortening the take off, but its a little lighter too.

Hmmm I was /am wondering about how to make the Corvair run the correct way (for P-Factor). Yes there are definitely more 601/650's with the Corvair. I think I have watched every video created of them as well! Well at least you hear one start up when ever you want. So you are buying a second Corvair engine for your build?

My engine or a portion of it is attached to my 1967 VW bug, mounted a 67 Covair engine on the back with an adapter plate and flipped the transaxle for the reverse rotation, didn't want to run a reverse cam. I hope to be able to build a Corvair with either WW or Azelea helping. Is that the engine you were asking about I have found a few post about the Corvair, but nothing extensive on CH750. Seem to be a lot on the 601s.

Yeah... I tried that over the Christmas break... I didn't get a real answer... it was just this deer in the headlight look. Uh... NO! So I left the door to the garage open and blew the heat into the garage.  :-D  Looking good John. You are well on your way! Have you found your engine yet?
