This clamping method is a band-aid solution to a design flaw on my part. If I was starting this brake from scratch, I'd have the 3" clamping angle turned so that both edges are down on the bed, and the corner of the angle pointing up. Then I'd weld a solid curved rod across the top, and use threaded rods welded into sockets for adjustable clamping pressure. At this stage in the game, I only have about 60-80 more parts that require bending, and most of those are thinner than .040". So I didn't feel compelled to completely re-design from the ground up. But I had this square tubing & bolts lying about in the shop, so I just used what I had on hand to make it work with the difficult bends.

2" x 2" x 1/8" square tubing with through-bolts at each end for clamping, plus 3" bolts and nuts used as clamping tensioners across span of part when part is too wide for through-bolts. Bent my landing gear channel (1105mm wide x .040" thick) with no problems whatsoever using this new truss-style clamping method.
