flew the plane yesterday. did well, stable and handles like a Cub(sorta). it flew straight and was stable in pitch...not sensitive or twitchy. Could only get 2400 RPM from the Cont 0 200 and Whirlwind prop. the engine not running as smoothly as should so we will be looking into that this next week. it cruised 85 mph at the 2400 rpm. did not do a full stall but had some wing buffetting around 45mph with 1000 rpm so settled for 65 on final and it loses speed rather quickly. I kept a little power till almost on the ground and all went well..could have stopped in 300 feet. strongly recommend noise cancelling headphones. for now have no padding inside.
It's great feeling to have it in the air. the project was 20 months total, but could have been done in one year or less if two people put their minds to it. My partner Tom was out with health issues some and I am still working half time and courting a wife. fortunately she like to fly and work in the hanger.
