The flap position indicator is purely mechanical.  A stiff wire approx. 0.100 inches diameter is clamped to the flap actuating rod which has fore and aft motion.  This wire is attached through a hole in one end of the indicator pointer which pivots at the center when the flap actuator rad moves.   The wire passes through a hole in the seat base on the way to the indicator.

I'd love to have some more details on how this flap indicator works. Is it cable driven?
