I'm using the EXPBus II and have decided to remotely place the PC board for better access, and stability (see pic). My question is, do I need to use shielded wire from the PC board to the switches? Also, I've used shielded wire for all the wiring runs and I know I should ground just one end of the shielding but what's the best way to accomplish this? A separate ground bus on firewall or ground each one somewhere on airframe at the source? Are there some things I don't need to even bother...fuel senders, LED nav lights, elt, etc? Thanks...wiring is definetly one of my weak areas!

In general, wires that carry signal (as opposed to power) are the only ones that need shielding. So your nav light wires wouldn't need shielding. Anything that carries audio or radio would need shielding. The same goes for digital signals, although they usually handle shielding by being twisted with two wires.
Suggest you shield the strobe wires if you have them.
B & C Newton Kansas has a nice ground block for bringing the ground wires to a common location
Hi Michael,

Very impressed with your great contributions to the forum. I also purchased the ExBus which is still in the box and I am wondering if you put any battery busses in you plane. Does not appear you need them with the ExBus but I thought I'd ask. What say you?

Sincerely,
John

Thanks for the kind words! I'm still in the wiring phase and and plan on following the basic schematic supplied with the EXPbus 2 manual so no battery bus for me. However, wiring is definitely not my strong suit! If you haven't gotten it yet, Bob Nuckolls book is free to download and a great resource for understanding aircraft electrical design.
