For those of you with video cameras, what software do you use to edit with.

I see the garmin virb comes with its own editor so that is a plus.

I currently have a hero2 and a contour camera.

Any ideas would be appreciated

Thanks,

Hey Rich,

I've been using GoPro Studio for the last year, which took a little experimenting to learn.  However being free, as well as allows for rather fancy edits, fit my needs.  Have a couple vids uploaded on YouTube, search N8381J.

same here...Gopro Studio

I use Pinnacle Studio.  It is really powerful, but as a result is has a very steep learning curve.  I'm using version 18 and started using it when it was version 9.

To add the flight information (ground speed, altitude, position, etc.) I use my android phone and an app (GPS Logger) to gather the data.  Then I use a program (Dashware which is free now) to sync the gps data to the video.  Then I Pinnacle to edit the video with the gps data.  Garmin has made this process much easier.

FWIW.  It does take a lot of time.

I still use the free Windows Movie Maker which is really easy to use (but limited in features).

Here's my newest video, from Friday:

The virb software is simplistic but pretty decent and hasn't crashed once yet on me.  It works fine for 90% of what I want and if you have the tracking version (Elite) it has tons of good features.  For standard editing I use Roxio. It's nice and polished but does have a small learning curve. For heavy stuff with about as many features as you could ever use, I use Adobe Premier Pro!

Most free software available though will do 99% of what a person would need for these little action cameras.  Caution on the HD camera's though.  They use a TON of space and in HD it will make your PC crawl.  The last 1 hour video I've been playing around with in HD is 14 gigs!!! :-0
