Heat gun has no effect on the glue - so what's the answer for removing the labels and the left on glue from your new piece of metal?

Just wipe with Lacquer thinners

I'm building from plans only.  It has never been a problem. :-)

Laquer thinner melts the adhesive right off and is cheaper and a little more friendly than many chemicals.

As Tim says... Lacquer Thinner works best. Simply saturate the label with a few drops and wait 15 seconds and peel off. A wide with a damp cloth (lacquer thinner again) will remove all the rest of the residue. It also works great for removing lines drawn by your sharpie pens (you shouldn't use pencils or pens) and the markings from the manufacturer on the aluminum before priming.

Acetone, soak the label using a rag, etc.

Get a can of spray brake cleaner. Spray, soak for a minute and peel. Then use soft cloth sprayed with brake cleaner and remove remaining glue. Works great for sharpie pen marks and about anything you need cleaned. Is handy, quick, convenient and works great. Do not get it on plastic parts though.

Soak it with lacquer thinner from a rag, leave it on for a new york minute and it peels off real easy. Then use a rag with lacquer thinner and clean up the residue. Easiest part of the build.

WD-40 works great!

Laquer thinner ...

Laquer thinner works great

These are all "band-aide" fixes. How about we simply ask ZENITH AIRCRAFT to Stop using PAPER stickers! Then they won't fall apart when trying to remove!  :-)

Said with love... to our fellow aviation supporter ZENITH AIRCRAFT.

Lacquer thinner here as well. I tried mineral spirits per homebuilt help videos' recommendation with little success. Roger has a video on EAA regarding this topic where he recommends lacquer thinner. Lacquer thinner will also remove Sharpie marks but I find it smears them before removing where the mineral spirits seems to only pull it into the rag or paper towel i use to wipe it.
