I'm new to aircraft building and have just received my CH701 plans. (CH750 plans are in the mail.) I have been observing many photos of the fine work that others have done and I've noticed that some of the sheet metal riveting has dimples and some does not. The work without rivet dimples looks much more appealing. I was wondering what causes the dimple and how to avoid making them.

By not holding the rivet pulling head square to the surface will cause the head to contact the sheet metal skin and cause the little dimple. With practice, I was able to reduce the problem of marking up the skin with the rivet puller head. Make sure the head has been properly modified to form the rounded rivet from the flush headed rivet provided with the kits by ZAC.
