I have been diligently searching craigslist and other sources to find an engine --- parts may be available but rusted out dead corvairs or engines is not proving to be as easy as it was a few years ago....

Where have all the engines gone?    Where did you find yours?    Because I sure can't find mine :(

I've got a couple.  Where are you?

Indiana...Indianapolis to be precise.

I've got one.  Have it listed on this site under the classified section.  Listed as corvair core engine parts, Aug 23rd.  It's about six pages down in the listings.  Complete description there.  Located in SW WI  Came from a running car. Has been disassembled and inspected.

The hunt for a core can be a lot of fun.  Seriously.

Go to local car shows, and ask the guy who shows up with a Corvair he's displaying.  Visit local junkyards (that's where I got my first core).  Ideally the engine will still be in the car it's been in all it's life.

$500 for a core?  Corvairs are starting to get expensive.

I have a core that already has most of the changes needed for an airplane that I'll take $500 for.  Raleigh, NC.

It should be noted from recent experience that shipping an engine from California to North Carolina will cost about $250.

Well, I got a lead on one.   Ironically, a friend of mine from 25 years ago had it....along with a 61 corvair with 25k original miles on it.   Beautiful car.   This engine is newer, and seized....but the price is right for the gamble....

I"ve got wynn's book (Picked it up 3 years ago)  --  I really wish that he was less verbose, there's a lot of fluff and things that are hidden in between a lot of words.   But, we'll see...we'll see.
