I know a Key ignition switch grounds the magneto in a certified engine or a plane with a magneto, but what about in a standard ignition like a VW has?

Can I use the same key switch mechanism that I would use with a magneto with a 009 distributer ignition?  My secondary is a GreatPlains Oil pump driven secondary which must be disabled during startup.

Any suggestions?  I was thinking about using a car key switch and wiring the Oil Pump driven secondary into the ACC spot on the switch and the 009 distributer on the RUN position of the switch so that when I go to START, it shuts off the ACC (Secondary).    To test just the secondary, I could move the switch to ACC.

Anyone tried this?  Anyone have any suggestions on the best key switch for a 009 distributer and Oil Pump driven secondary electronic ignition?

Thanks in advance
