Would like to expand the engine discussion to include the Jibaru 2200.  Air cooled, lightweight, no reduction drive....what is not to like ?

I think that might be true for the older Jab 3300's out there, but the third generation of engines, sometimes referred to as the "late hydraulic lifter" engines, seem to be doing fine as far as the top end and are much easier to cool, unlike the early engines.  I'm at 500+ hrs (third generation) with the weakest cylinder at 78/80 compression - I borescope at annual and the valves look great!  They just came out with their "4th generation" engine which has more cast aluminum parts than the previous billet CNC'd parts - probably a cost-savings measure.  Time will tell if the new engine will be as reliable as the previous generation - the basic engine is not radically different, however, so I'm optimistic! Pretty compelling at 178 lbs with all accessories, 120 hp, and about 19000 USD!

There also isn't a lot of difference in the basic design of the 2200 vs the 3300 except the number of cylinders.  I keep up with the various forums discussing the Jabs and my impression is that the 2200 is reliable.

I have a 2200 in my X-air lite sport its been fine,   BUT it needs a oil cooler to keep the oil below 200F in Michigan.   Lee
