Don't open you garage door up all the way. This keeps the lights hanging from the ceiling from shining out so far attracting fewer bugs.

Listerine mouthwash is the cheapest and the only freshening 'insecticide'. It keeps mosquitoes and cob web away from my shop (in the Tropic). You can reuse it. Those saved after gurgling work better against insects! ;^)

John,

Here in Idaho we have a problem with flies from the local dairies - don't get me started. I found a cheap and effective method to keep my shop (while I built the plane) and now the hangar free from the critters. First of all there is a product out here in the local COOP Farm Store called CV 80 Fly Spray. It comes in a self dispenser kit but it was very costly.
It is used to combat the flies in milk rooms etc so though that it won't kill me ...LOL. I bought some of the small cans that will fit an automatic dispenser and matched them up to cheap auto dispensers from the local Dollar Store.

You'll have to play around to find the auto dispensers that will work for the can you buy. I found that the "no name" Glade type machine worked for me. Cost, about five dollars for the spray can that will last for a month and less than five for the auto-dispenser - a lot better that the thirty or so they wanted for the kit. I set the machine to "spritz" at the longest time interval and try to locate the machine where it allows the spray to move around the shop. I have to shave the right angle nozzle sides down to make it work in my dispenser. You might add a full size can for "touch up" applications around the shop. Just leave the auto dispenser running all summer and the bugs go away. I have three of these running when the flies get bad - one in each shop and another in the hangar.

Good luck

Still grinnin

Try putting an ultra-violet light just outside the garage to attract the bugs, you can get some units that have an electrified grid under the light, this sorts the buds out.

Hi John! I use a floor fan with enough power to generate a comfortable breeze where I'm working. The bugs don't like to battle the wind and stay out of the slipstream for most part. Frank
