I send it my registration forms with the notarized ownership, bill of sale from Zenith, etc. for registering my 750 Cruzer with a previously reserved N-number.

Has anyone done this recently, and how long did it actually take for the FAA to complete the registration?

I know I can search the on-line data based for the documents, and for the registration database, and the EAA recommending doing it 3 months ahead of when its needed, but what is the real world turn around recently?

When I registered the SD, as long as everything is done complete and correct without any kind of errors on the paperwork etc. (sometimes they will send back for even the smallest thing) It took about 3 weeks if I recall correctly. I was however, on the phone with them a lot due to needing it in a very timely manner. I know for a fact it didn't take anywhere near 3 months. -Alissa

I just checked on my registration and was told it is taking 7 to 8 weeks for a normal registration to clear.

I registered my plane the fist of July, and I received the paperwork in late September. 

Got mine in 3 weeks also.

 My original registration submittal was the first week of August, had my registration in hand in early September, airworthiness application was submitted in mid-september, FAA inspector (not DAR) handed me my certificate October 25th.  I did call the FSDO and spoke with an inspector around June just to let them know what my completion date might be and to request the packet of documents.  This may have allowed them to work me into their schedule more efficiently?  Who knows, but the two inspectors I talked with were very helpful and responsive.  Like Alissa stated, be sure your paperwork is in order, small errors will cause delays.  Good luck!

No joke on the paperwork having to be exactly correct!  For instance, if you submit the "Aircraft Bill of Sale" and don't strike the word "Aircraft" and write-in "Kit," they'll send all your paperwork back for correction.  Fortunately, when I called EAA with some questions before I submitted my paperwork, they gave me that tip and many others.  Don't hesitate to call the EAA if you have questions - they're a great resource!




My biggest concern was the Registration number field. I know it should be blank if you don't have a number, it does not say if you should fill in the N-Number with the reserved N number or not, I assumed it was what I was supposed to do. I got the EAA package the day after I mailed and it showed I had done it correctly, so I think I got everything matched and proper, cross my fingers.


Also, if you are using the eaa amateur built " document kit" beware....i used those forms and got busted because they have a fine print date on top right corner and were expired by 3 years! 2 of those forms were notorized, and i had to get them redone with the form with the current date! So small, didn't even notice...thought i'd pass it along

Well unless something weird has happened the plane is registered. The package was sent USPS 2-3 day express on the Oct 31st. and overnight the record was updated to show the registration in the on-line system. 

That was less than 7 business days. Don't know how long it will take to get paperwork, but the check was cashed and the registration shows up on-line.
