I went for a fly today haven't been up for a while but on the way back I was punching into 5kt headwind and was mucking around with the trim I managed to get it on the step and at 2560 rpm on the jab was indicating 130kts both on the dynon and the airspeed indicator so this would mean that after all the work and dollars I'm finally seeing the factory figures

Good going Brendon.  Some airplanes are really sensitive to subtle trim adjustments.  With my Luscombe it took me several hours learning to coax it up above 90mph.  I think most Luscombe owners lie out of force of habit.  I could get it up to 110 or so with a very slight descent then trim to level flight.  In still air it would go 100 but only until upset with a little turbulence.  With your shorter wing you should be pretty stable when you get it up on the step like that.

Way to go

Dan

Hi Brenden
Please be careful as VNE is 139 knts for a HDS
Cruise for a HDS is 117 kts
Specs on the HDS are in Mph not Kts

The looks great
Cheers

Hi Allan yes I know have to be vigilante once on the step I try to cruise at around 115kts

Step?    That's how you get in the airplane.    hee hee

I'm with Francisco.   I must have been absent the day they taught about "the step".
