Just wondering if anyone has used something other than the nylon block fairlead - like a pulley.  Seems to me that a steel cable rubbing against a piece of plastic is prone to cable tension changes as wear occurs?

I purchased some oil impregnated nylon from McMaster Carr. My experience with having  a conditional done on my XL by someone not familiar with experimental planes was quite frustrating and expensive.$2,500! One of the bones of contentions was the fairleads. it took a DAR to settle the issue. I won't say there were any hard feelings over the matter, but less just say there were no long term relationships built either. Following the general consensus of Zenith builders, the fairleads as on the drawings, work for them without issues, so why change?

I also used oil nylon (green)  too
