Since my Facet 40106 had a case of infant mortality I decided to try and open it up and see what was inside the cube. The simplicity of the pump was quite surprising. It's nothing but a wire coil around an inline piston. There's one large spring, one small spring, a brass retainer, a nylon cup and a small spring. An that's it.

The assembly inside the cube housing is packed with some very tough expanding foam that required a hammer and screwdriver to break away.

I replaced mine after I noticed a small amount of seepage out of it. This was confirmed when some of the foam had signs of blue avgas.

Even after opening it up I have no idea how it works.
