I am building a Cruzer with a 3000cc Corvair. I am not flying yet. I plan to run my engine for the first time this fall. I don't have any first hand experience with the Viking engine, they seem to be very nice. But it is really apples and oranges to compare the two. I chose the corvair because I wanted to build it myself. I have zero experience building motors (or airplane s for that matter). It has been a great experience and I have learned a lot. I like the simplicity of an air cooled engine with no computer. The Viking is a modern engine controlled by a computer. From what I have read, the real crux of converting a modern engine is the ECU. I knew a guy with a LS1 on an RV10 and it bedeviled him.

So, if you want to buy a modern turnkey engine, go with the Viking. If you want to build a horizontally opposed air cooled engine, go Corvair. Neither would be wrong.
Hi.
Hi. Lawrence, six of us down at Lethbridge with 750's but we are all powered by Rotax 912 uls. Some with carbs, some fuel injected. If interested in alternate engines drop me a line.

Hi Lawrence,

I am not flying yet but I hope to be before the end of this year. I built a 3000 cc Corvair under the instruction of William Wynne. It was quite a process but in the end I am very happy with the engine. I met William at Portland Oregon the weekend of June 25th and completed the build and break in run on his test stand. It started right up and ran for the 30 minute run very smoothly. Since getting home I have the engine mounted on the airframe and I am working on…
