I flew a Zodiac XL with a large passenger in the right seat whose thick thighs restricted the movement of the dual control stick. It took us a few minutes of diagnosing the problem to realize it was his right leg drifting inward during flight that restricted my ability to put the airplane in a right turn bank. At that moment I decided to go with the Y-stick on my Zodiac. I really like the Y-stick better anyway.
My aircraft is a 601xl. I installed the dual controls as we assembled a quick build kit. The installation was not difficult, I can't speak for the 701. It all depends on how determined you are.
