Does it matter how fast aluminum gets bent?

I was going to try bending aluminum stiffener(L shaped) that's longer than 8 feet. But doing it in a gig, the metal will be slam formed. Force applied to the complete surface and once it yields it's going to bend around a radius. But the bending will happen very fast once it's starts. Slam forming might be a good word for the method I'm going to employ.

Question is, as long as the aluminum is formed around a radius does it matter how fast it is bent.
