For the 650B, drawing 6-W-8 shows a plywood template for the main spar at 81 degrees, and refers to the specs for the plywood template on drawing 6-B-14... but the main spar plywood template on 6-B-14 shows the angle as 83 degrees... so, which is it?  81, or 83?  Has anyone else noticed this?

Thanks

I'm building a 601XL B, not a 650 so I don't know for sure, but... The 650 has a slightly higher angle of incidence for the wing than the 601. That would mean that the main spar angle on the 650 would be different than on the 601 XL, and it would be more vertical than on the XL. I'll say that the 83 deg angle is correct for the 650 and the 81 degree angle is for the 601XL.

I think it is83 deg to give a higher incidence (lower trailing edge). Have Zenith published a correction for this?

I have a tech help request in for Caleb.  Will find out.  Wonder if that could be the reason some people have a problem when it comes time to mount the wings and the spars are "tight"... a couple of degrees of difference could sure do that.

Got a note from Caleb today. It turns out that drawing 6-W-8 needs to have the reference to 6-B-14 removed - or 6-W-8 needs to have its own plywood template measurement so it can be cut to 81 degrees.  The wings are built with a 81-degree template, and the main spar is mounted using a 83-degree template, so there need to be 2 separate templates made, one for the wing spar and one for the main spar, and they are supposed to be different angles.

One less thing to worry about.
