Online Community of Zenith Builders and Flyers
Hello. Those of you who have polished aluminum airplanes, have you applied any decals over the polished aluminum? I have read warnings that decals applied over polished aluminum could lead to corrosion, while others say that it has not been an issue. Thanks.
Certain types of vinyl are now available that have air passages built into them. Sone exampkes are 3m 1080 and Vivid.
This issue has been discussed in great detail on the Vans RV forum which i frequent. The consensus there is that this is not an issue if your decals are made from these new types of vinyls.
I recently did a partial vinyl wrap on my plane. I have no concerns about corrosion after my research.
Thanks very much for the detailed reply. I did a search on the Vans Airforce website but did not find this info. I will try again. I am building an RV-12iS and I plan to polish the aluminum and add some decals. Thanks again.
