Hi Michael,

No one in our group ended up priming so the marks were not mentioned by our inspector. There two ways that I can think of to ensure no problem. Either take some photos where the marks can be seen, or keep receipts of the materials you buy, showing the material grades. Our inspector did ask to see the receipts for our materials and we pulled out a shoe box full which he promptly did not even look at.

Our inspector did not compare the plans to the airframes except in a couple of spot(s) locations. There is too much to look for them in a reasonable time frame during the inspection. Not all inspectors are created equal though. I have heard some inspectors barely glance at the work and others go through it very carefully. We did substitute some odd dimensioned materials to the next highest (bigger) in a couple of places.

Even if you heard wrong..its good in a way. There could be many technical things that a scratch builder might need to be aware of that someone who buys a kit wouldn't have to worry about.

I called the mdra yesterday and a tech guy is going to call me back this Tuesday.
One of the issues I also noticed is my plane is not on the mdra approved list

I'd also like to know if its ok to deviate from the plans since .93 angle is so hard to find
I'm glad you brought it up, as there is no way to beat city hall so better know all the rules from the start. I could have been wrong about…tag:zenith.aero,2017-11-17:2606393:Comment:5975212017-11-17T15:24:31.127ZDan Hillhttps://zenith.aero/profile/DanHill

I could have been wrong about this. In the US it is not an issue but I seem to remember discussions about it in Canada, hopefully someone will chime in. Dan
