No problem! I went through the process last year, so if you have questions that aren't answered in the guide, I might have an answer or be able to point you in the right direction. Here in BC I had to pay a 12% provincial tax (!), but I'm not sure how it works in Ontario. Also, it took four months for Transport Canada to send me the registration (which you can't fly without) - I don't know if they're still that backed up, but I'd recommend paying for an interim registration if you want to…

Also, it took four months for Transport Canada to send me the registration (which you can't fly without) - I don't know if they're still that backed up, but I'd recommend paying for an interim registration if you want to fly the aircraft soon after you buy it. I had read somewhere (maybe in that guide) that it usually doesn't take TC any longer to process a regular registration than an interim registration, but I suspect that isn't true anymore.
Thanks very much for the info…tag:zenith.aero,2022-07-14:2606393:Comment:8741772022-07-14T21:43:30.422ZMichael T.https://zenith.aero/profile/MichaelT

COPA (the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association) has a guide called "COPA Guide to Buying an Aircraft" that should answer all your questions. It's a 110 page PDF that you can download from their website - you might have to become a member first, but it's worthwhile for this kind of thing. The PDF includes a sample offer letter, bill of sale, receipt, and includes a section about buying a homebuilt aircraft.
